Spreading Some Warmth

5/30 Today I am thankful for warmth.

The warmth in the colors of autumn, reds, purples, yellows, and browns

The warmth of your love, hospitality, kindness, and graciousness

The warmth from the candle that smells of cinnamon and apples

The warmth of hot water as it flows over my body in the shower

The warmth from the heater as it breaks the chill in my house

The warmth as I cook and bake up something good to eat

The warmth of your arms around me, holding me close

The warmth of your voice as it speaks softly in my ear

The warmth from the bright sunshine on the day
The warmth of familiar surroundings that is safe

The warmth from that big smile on your face
The warmth of a cappuccino in my hands
The warmth in my home, cozy and snug

The warmth of my cozy quilted bed

 The warmth from knowing Jesus

The warmth of tender affection

The warmth of having friends

The warmth in my very soul

The warmth of peace

A Little Lovin'

4/30 Today I am thankful for love. For being loved, having loved, and knowing love. “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” 1 Corinthians 13:13

Love…the heavenly gift from our Father. An ability that we received when we were born, one that we can share and still have enough left to give again and again. It is something we should never run out of.  We love people; we love our pets, good food, our hobbies, sports, babies, clothes, cars, talents, careers, on and on; and even ourselves. Love does make the world go round and round and makes us do and say crazy things. Oh that feeling of being in love and loving what we do!

~St. Augustine puts it like this: "Love itself is what is left over when

being in love has burned away, and this is both an art and a

fortunate accident. Your mother and I had it, we had roots that grew

towards each other underground, and when all the pretty blossoms had

fallen from our branches we found that we were one tree and not two."

   I love this~yep!

The greatest love is deeper than any hole in the ground, truer than any color of blue, and stronger than any giant. It is better than perfection.

Here is the best definition of love:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

My husband who left me homemade biscuits and sausage that he cooked before work

My precious daughter and her husband who is taking a huge test today with the USCG…

The really cool weather coming our way after the rains

Thinking about the upcoming holidays and smiling

Friends; old ones, new ones, and those to come

My whole family with all their good and bad!

Share a little love today!

Rain Songs

...I love to sit by an open window in the evening and listen to the night sounds. Darkness has fallen…ending the day by tucking it in for the night.  I hear the singing of the katydids, crickets, and frogs. Their music is soft and sweet to my ears, bringing a relaxed safe feeling to my world. Rest is coming, a calm peacefulness is settling over me. The wind begins to pick up and stir the leaves, rustling them about in the shadows …the coolness flows through the window, fresh and clean. Listen, Listen…here come the rain drops which join in song with the others. Ever so gently they sprinkle the world with their nourishment. It is like manna from heaven…something beautiful, a spiritual cleansing of the earth. I say my prayers.  Soon it will welcome a new morning, making it grow and bloom.  I am grateful...

Exercise That Right

Today I am Grateful that I have the privilege to vote. A right that allows me to choose to my liking the one whom I believe is the best person to serve an office. It is not only a privilege or right…it is a responsible as a citizen; one that defines our nation as a democracy. It is an entitlement that was fought for more than 200 years ago, so that everyone would have the opportunity to exercise this freedom. Please do not take it for granted…for it could easily be taken away.

And remember if you don’t vote…DON’T complain!

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD…

The Gift of Today

Today begins another annual 30 Days of Gratitude. Follow me throughout the month of November as I share with you each day something that I am grateful for. Each is a blessing. Want you join with me and share your own?

1/30 Today I am Grateful for Mondays! Yes I know it is the all time dreaded day of the week… everyone hates Monday. We live for Fridays and the weekend…only to ruin our Sunday afternoons thinking about Monday mornings and how quickly the weekend will be over…dreading it all the way. Let’s truly think about Mondays…they are a brand new start to a brand new week. Another day given to you by our Heavenly Father…one in which we should embrace with open arms and a happy attitude. If you woke up this morning and are reading this post, you have been given today…a present, free for the taking, free for the living in it. What happens today may determine our mind-set for the reminder of the week, so let’s make the best of it.

For you see we are not promised tomorrow…so accept today as the gift it was meant to be and be ever so grateful for another day of life. Each moment is precious; life is short…so live today like it is your last. Get out and enjoy the simple pleasures of life, capture God’s beauty with a camera, eat a hot dog, sing as if you could, and dance in the rain. This is the day that the Lord hath made. I will rejoice and be glad in it no matter if it’s a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday…or any other day of the week. Do something wonderful today and be kind to one another. Happy Monday!
