Reading, writing and arithmetic…oh the joy of young learning. I still love to read…not so fond of all the other any more; however I still like to learn new things. Reading takes me to places I have never been, it makes my dreams come true, and lets my imagination run with the wind. I become the character in the book, taking on their adventures as my own…living their life, feeling their pains and triumphs. I scale high mountains, fly above the clouds, live in a different time and place, sail the ocean blue and walk an unknown path. I earn about different cultures; rights and wrongs, about faith, love, and forgiveness.
Jump into your own adventure through a good book. Just take a few minutes at night before lights out and you’ll even sleep better too. Join me in this promise:
Start reading a book today!
18/30 Today I am grateful for the printed word.
Take a glance at my bookshelf on my sidebar for reading suggestions.
There is nothing like this experience of reading, getting absorbed, escaping! Beautiful words, beautiful image!
ReplyDeleteI was not a huge reader as a young teen. Then I found myself with too many lonely nights in basic training for the US Army and picked up a book, Phantom. I was lost in that book from cover to cover. It was amazing how easily I found myself in the dungy dark room of the one of the most romanticly sad men ever in a book. I was taken away. I've never looked back. Hugs. Tammy
ReplyDeleteI stopped at Barnes and Noble today and got two new books to read.. Indeed the places we go and see through a book
ReplyDeleteI LOVE to Read!!!
ReplyDeleteMy Mom read to us for endless hours, and in 4th grade I had a teacher that would have a reading time everyday when she would read out loud to us.
Between those two woman's influence, I came to love books so much. I, too, get so involved in the book that I am reading that my world is colored by it, so I have to be careful about what I choose to read.
So, this is a very easy commitment for me to make because I read a little bit every night before I go to sleep. I have to or I can't go to sleep, and I have been like that forever.
Thanks for sharing this,
Joyce
