Pea Picking Good

Did you watch the Hallmark movie "The Lost Valentine"?  Betty White and Jennifer Love Hewitt were awesome. They drew the tears, the romance, and the love straight from the past into the present. If you missed it Sunday night be looking for the encore…it is a must see.
If this movie does not touch your heart, you are made of cold hard stone. Love at its best and I’m not speaking of Jennifer, although she was great. Sean Faris…well he added a little eye candy for every one of any age…And Betty…what can I say…she is just plain awesome in every way!

We had a beautiful weekend here in the south…temps in the seventies on Saturday…such a tease…so what did we do? Gardening. Yep…after much prep work which involved some horse poo compost, knee bending, back aching work; our end result was 80 feet of planted sweet English peas and 24 feet of sweet onions. I can’t wait to see them do their thing and reap the harvest. If you have never eaten fresh picked and shelled English peas, you are being deprived! Le Sueur has nothing on fresh!
Speaking of picking….

I have been picked! Yep me, out if thousands of bloggers in bloggerville world, to review a Gooseberry Patch cookbook. The reviews will be from their newest not-yet-released cookbooks. I get a first sneak peek at the book and get to try, play, and prepare the recipes…then I get to tell you all about it! You will be among the first to find out what’s in the book, see a prepared recipe, and find out how to get it first! So stay tuned for some fab recipes with photos, my thoughts straight from the taste buds and most of all a SPECIAL surprise. I am so excited. I have the honor and privilege of wearing this special badge on my blog...

along with having the opportunity to test out some of the recipes before the book hits the shelves!
Stay with me and be looking for my first review coming up sometime in February… There will be something in it for you!   The excitement mounts…

BTW…tomorrow begins February, the LOVE month…ready or not!

That movie was so good and touched my heart. I'm so blessed that Richard doesnt have to go off to war but the military life is still hard! I hope we can have a garden this year too! :)

I too enjoyed that movie last night. It did bring a few tears. Garden preparation is not on the list around here in the Northwest, at least not yet. Fresh garden peas do sound great though, I hope to increase my vegie garden this year.

Hi Cora! I'm sorry I missed that, but I will be on the look out for it to air again. Isn't it lovely when the temperatures start to warm up and it feels a bit like Spring? I am so excited to plant some new flowers!
Take care,

I agree with Laura...wonderful blog Cora! And I enjoy reading it so much! Thanks and keep up the good work! NOW, about the MOVIE...we watched it as a family, and honestly...it was THE BEST I've seen in a long time!! Just last May, I lost a ...dear friend in Afganistan..the highest ranking officer to be killed over there. I don't know that I was quite ready to see that movie, but it was fabulous. I squawwwllllled my eyes out whenever he finally made it home. WHY they don't make more good, clean movies for the family like that...I DON'T KNOW! Betty still "has it"... at 80!!

Cora,
I agree with Laura & Tracy. You have the "best" blog. You have such a variety of topics and your devotions. It's all GREAT!
Can't wait to hear about the recipes book. I know you will choose some great recipes to try.
Have you sewn anything with the quilt fabrics you won from Sewn with Grace?

Oh watched it last night and it has stayed on my thoughts all day! She made lemonade out of lemons and didn't live her life in bitterness...so many lessons from the story.
Yea! on getting to garden..we had 70's and tonight is going into the teens...that little spring weather flew away again.
How fun on the cookbook...I am a new follower, but enjoying my visits.

I delight greatly in sweet peas!! I would love to plant them but I don't know if I would have the time to see them through to harvest. Definitely no time here for a full garden, that's for sure... not even 80 feet of sweet peas... more like 8 feet... well okay, let's get realistic here... I think I could handle 4 feet maybe. Hehe! Is it too late to plant them? I think I want to try it. Any tips for a newbie here?

Oh girl, I am SO excited for you!! Gooseberry Patch is what brought us together in the first place and planted a wonderful friendship within us! I am smiling so proudly at this awesome opportunity for you like a Momma is proud of her little one! It IS an honor and privilege but I know you will take this assignment to heart and put so much love into each review that you do! I can't wait to ride along on this fun journey with you girl! Congratulations!!
